Shoreham Port Family Days Summer 2014

The Angling Trust has helped to secure £2,000 in funding from Adur Council to grow their 2014 Introduction to Sea Angling and the Marine Environment programme. The program promotes the importance of an Active & Healthy life style through the sport of Angling and the increased awareness of England’s marine and associated environments. The funding will double our ability to reach as wide an audience as possible across the Adur community.

This years we held four events across the Summer the latest of which was on a beautiful Sunny day in October. We have seen over 150 young anglers and their families over the summer all of them new to fishing. we have proivided all the tackle and bait plus local skipper Mark Vale has given up four valuable Sundays to take young anglers out fishing for Mackerel on his boat She Likes It II.

2014 Coaching days:

Sunday 22nd June
Saturday 5th July
Saturday 26th July
Sunday 24th August
Sunday28th September
Sunday 4th October

There has been a wide variety of fish caught: Wrasse, Blenny's, Goby's Smelt, Bass, Mullet, Gilthead Bream, and Mackerel are just a few regularly caught by the young anglers.

One of the best things has been the number of entire familes who came along just to enjoy a day learning how to fish. Next year we are planning to deliver at least one of these events every month from April through to October (weather permitting).

So if you want to get involved and come along in 2015 keep an eye on this site and we'll be announcing new dates as soon as possible.
